Choosing a Clan

The Great Clans of Rokugan are descended from the Kami that fell from the heavens, and their children who defeated the Dark Kami Fu Leng on the first day of Thunder. The blood of gods literally runs through these characters veins. (Though it has gotten admittedly diluted over the centuries!) Each clan has its own style and flair, but we have provided archetypes from similar games so you can quickly get a handle on which Clan suits your style of play!

The Crab: 185px crab
Barbaric warriors of the south who defend Rokugan from supernatural horrors. They have little time for culture and etiquette, but follow Bushido as strongly as any others. Their war with the Shadowlands often places them on the brink of poverty.

The most powerful shugenja (spirit mages) in Rokugan, The Phoenix learn magic like most samurai learn the sword. Scholars with a pacifistic bent, the power and prophecies they wield sometimes drives them to madness, corruption…or both.

Assassins and scoundrels to the core, the Scorpion is the “underhand of the Emperor”, performing deeds for the good of the realm at the cost of their own honor. They take on the role of the necessary villain so other samurai might maintain their own honor.
